What We Do
Investing in decarbonisation and the development of low carbon products.
Vertex Hydrogen – UK’s First Blue Hydrogen Plant
UK’s first Blue Hydrogen plant
Vertex Hydrogen is building the UK’s first blue hydrogen production plant with 1GW capacity. Supported by the UK Government’s Contract for Difference (CfD) mechanism, Vertex is set to be to first plant to commence operations in the UK and will be a catalyst for the UK’s blue hydrogen economy.
- With its location advantage in the HyNet industrial cluster, Vertex produced blue hydrogen will be safely transported via Cadent’s network to industrial users
- The blue hydrogen produced will help in decarbonisation efforts by replacing existing natural gas use. Carbon captured will be sequestered in ENI’s Liverpool Bay storage facility
- Vertex is the exclusive hydrogen player in the North West cluster, and leverages a huge captive market
- Essar Oil UK (EOUK) is an anchor offtaker out of 3 – 4 GW of total estimated demand from 30+ customers in the region
Cornerstone of an integrated supply chain
Vertex Hydrogen sits at the heart of an integrated value chain which will provide EET with the platform to play a leading role in the industrial decarbonisation of the North West. Partnering with experienced infrastructure, transport and storage providers, the company benefits from access to carbon capture and storage and blue-chip industrial offtakers.
